what's new in new dawg city

My bucket

June 18, 2008 - My Geographical Bucket List

Top Places I'd Like to Visit Someday, in no particular order...

  1. Petra, in Jordan. Recently rekindled by an Indiana Jones marathon, something mystical about this place has always interested me. Similar to how I felt about Machu Picchu growing up. Hopefully it's not as Disney-afied as Machu Picchu was.

  2. India. I don't know much about India, but it's another one of those places I've always been fascinated with since I was a child. Plus, Sundays are Indian Takeout night for us, I've love to eat REAL Indian food for more than one day at a time! But then, I hope my stomach can handle it!

  3. Ireland. I'm Irish. I have this blood-draw to it. I'd like to go with my mom. So I think I'll save that for when she's able to join me.

  4. Paris, France. Cliche, I know, but I've only spent an hour in the Paris airport and honestly, I want to see the city! El's been. Lucky Duck. I'd also like to check out some of the smaller towns. The countryside of Europe is just fantastic.

  5. Rome, Italy. I studied photography in Florence for a summer semester in college, tooled around Tuscany for a couple weeks after, even made it up to Venice. Swam in both the Mediterranean and the Adriatic seas, however, somehow I never got to Rome! Oh, the embarrassment! And I also missed the David in Florence due to strikes, so it'd be nice to go back and see it. Maybe wander through my old haunts just for kicks.

  6. New Zealand. My dad backpacked around New Zealand for a few months, Australia too, he loved it. I think I'd love it. Plus it's one of the most beautiful landscapes ever.

  7. Israel. I never took advantage of the birth-right trip and seeing as how my opportunity to do so ends in about 3 months (turning 27), I guess I'll have to pay for it. I want to swim in the Dead Sea! Maybe when we go to see Petra we can swim across the Dead Sea to Israel!

  8. Egypt, specifically I'd like to ride a camel through the Sahara Desert. Perhaps it is an unlikely dream, but that's why it's a dream!

  9. Antartica. Why not? I like penguins.

  10. Greece. When I was in middle school I did a watercolor painting of a church on the island of Mykonos. My art/music teacher's daughter was living there, so I was using one of her photos as a sample for this painting. I gave the painting to a friend years ago, but I still remember the contrast of the white-washed buildings against the aqua sea and it was something that stuck with me.

  11. Hawaii and Alaska. I've got only about 14 of the 50 states I haven't been to, but of all of them, Hawaii and Alaska are the ones I definitely want to see.

  12. Nepal and Tibet. I would like to hike to the base of Mount Everest and meditate with monks.

  13. Madagascar. Lemurs are just too darn cute! And I will call them all Zooboomafu! Just like all donkeys are Badonkadonk the Donkey!

  14. And of course, Thailand! And isn't it wonderful that we're already going there in November!!!

More to come, I'm sure!
